The Resurgam 60 Appeal

Here is an update from Jim Copper on behalf of The Friends about the Resurgam 60 Appeal:

As you will have seen from the Rector’s recent email, maintenance and repair work will shortly be starting on the Church Tower and as much else as can be accomplished within the estimated cost of some £165,000 . Marvellous to see it happening at last – thank God! The Appeal has reached the total sum of c £96,000, and The Friends have agreed an additional donation to reach the original target of £127,000, which sadly but unsurprisingly has had to be revised. There is therefore a shortfall of some £38,000, which will have to be met by use of existing Church reserves, at a time when income has dropped seriously due to the lockdown. The Friends and the PCC are immensely grateful to all who have given so freely already from within the Church community, as well as to those organisations which have given generously in the form of grants. No further appeal for external contributions will be made at this late stage, although we hope to have a report published in the Herald which might lead to some response. It must be remembered that the original appeal to the wider Plymouth community met with an extremely poor reaction. Needless to say, if any member of the Church community should wish to make a further or new donation it would be most gratefully received! Any such donation should be made to the Church Office, marked as being for the Resurgam 60 Appeal.
‘To God be the glory, Great things He has done!’
