St. Paul’s Stonehouse
“Hail the incarnate Deity!”
Do you know which carol these words are from? They’re from “Hark! the Herald Angels Sing.” They remind us that Christmas isn’t just the birthday of some religious founder, but the very birthday of God Himself – Jesus, the One who existed from eternity with the Father and Holy Spirit, the One by Whom and for Whom all things were created. And the birth of this God is good news of great joy that is for everyone. For He is not the “god” we imagine, not the “god” who is against us, not the “god” who lays burdens on us.
No… He is Immanuel – God with us and God for us; God who gave Himself to the world in a manger wrapped in swaddling cloth; God who came not to be served but to serve; God who is born precisely to die with arms outstretched on the cross for us; God who has risen again and defeated death for us; God who now holds the keys to life and death; God who continues to hold His strong loving arms out to you to welcome you! Who could have imagined how much the world was going to be shaken through this year – and we don’t know what is to come in 2021. However, we know who holds the future and He guides us with His hand. We pray that you know the glorious presence of the LORD Jesus Christ this Christmas time.
Have a very Happy Christmas and New Year! From all at St. Paul’s Stonehouse
St. Paul’s Church is based in Durnford Street, Stonehouse, Plymouth. We’re a community-based Anglican church that welcomes newcomers and supports more established members alike. Come and join us on a Sunday!
Sunday services are at 11am each week and also livestreamed on Zoom. Email us for the link.
The church is also open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 10:30am-1pm for private prayer. Do come along and say hello and use this time for quiet reflection and prayer.
If you can’t attend our services in person for any reason, you can also access the St. Andrew’s livestream on YouTube. See the website here for the link: https://www.standrewschurch.org.uk.
Leon Sim, our vicar, will also be sending out various updates and devotionals by email/WhatsApp/letters. If you’d like to receive them, please do get in touch.
Our priorities as a church during this time is to keep growing in our faith in Jesus, to pray for those caught up in this crisis, and to make sure we care caring for those in our church and the wider community. If you need help or support in any way, please, please do let us know, and we’ll do our best. We can’t help if we don’t know know what’s going on.
