St. Andrew’s supports several missionary links around the world.

PETER BARTLETT (SAMS)
Peter, originally of this parish, is the new Bishop of Paraguay.

ALISTAIR & NAOMI DRYE
Al Drye used to be our youth leader, but moved to New Zealand with his family, to continue youth work at St John’s Church, Christchurch. Naomi oversees all the music in the church and they have five young children.

CHRIS & ALISON HAWKSBEE (SAMS)
Chris and Alison Hawksbee are long-term missionaries in Paraguay. Alison is a teacher and Chris works in rural agricultural development with indigenous people.

Christian education and community worker in South East Asia

MEDIC MALAWI (Medic Malawi)
with Frank and Eunice Dzantenge
Medic Malawi built and runs St Andrew’s Hospital in Mtunthama and gives financial and practical support to All Saints’ School. It works closely with the Mothers’ Union and is linked with All Saints’ Church. Alongside its stated objective “to support the poor and needy”, its aim is to witness to God’s love for all and to bring people to a closer relationship with God. Founded by Mac and Dot Forsyth of our own congregation, with Revd Frank and Eunice Dzantenge in Mtunthama, there is also a large orphanage to support.

BRIAN and ANNE SLOAN (Marine Reach/YWAM)
From our own Church fellowship; Brian is Director of Marine Reach which is aiming to take medical aid and the gospel to the poorest coastal communities around the World. Anne is a YWAM staff trainer. The latest exciting project is with the sailing vessell “Next Wave” for discipleship of young people.

SHELAGH WYNNE (CMS)
Shelagh is linked with CMS and is presently in Thailand which is her base for selection, training and sending Christian teachers out.

TEARFUND
Tearfund is an evangelical Christian development and relief charity working with partners to bring help and hope to communities in need around the world. Last year, Tearfund supported over 500 projects in 70 countries. Onee Tearfund project is to “Work a Miracle” aimed at preventing the transmission of the AIDS/HIV virus from mother to baby, in all areas/countries where Tearfund is working.

SHEKINAH MISSION
The Shekinah Mission based in Bath Street in Plymouth offers help, hope, education and Christ’s love for the hungry, the homeless and the lonely. The drop-in centre is newly re-built, offering much expanded services, especially training in job-related skills aimed at getting people back into work.

SHORT TERM PROJECTS OVERSEAS
Many of the young people at St Andrew’s have been on short-term projects with organisations such as LatinLink, and Tear Fund. Many of the mission organisations linked with St Andrew’s welcome volunteers for a few weeks or months.
